Just 4 Jake Bike RideJune 26, 2013
Here at ALPHR Technology we’re committed to doing as much as possible for charities and causes throughout the local community and the wider UK. So when Adtrak – our web design and internet marketing agency – told us a few of them were cycling from John O’Groats to Land’s End to raise money for a little boy with cerebral palsy, we immediately offered our support and sponsorship…
Just 4 Jake
The team attempting the cycle challenge will consist of three Adtrak members – Chris Robinson, the Managing Director, Jason Parker, Director of Internet Marketing and Mike Whitby, Head of Web Development. They will cover over 1,000 miles in just 9 days (July 4th – July 12th) and the gruelling route will begin at the top of Scotland and finish at England’s most southern point.
Their incredibly impressive efforts are all in aid of Just 4 Jake, a charity supporting 4 year old cerebral palsy sufferer Jake Michael Evans. Born prematurely, Jake experienced brain damage which left him unable to walk or stand. He is now reliant on his K-Walker to get around or commando crawls.
However an operation – called SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy) – is now available in the UK which could be the solution to Jake’s mobility issues, and although it can’t cure his cerebral palsy, it could mean he is able to walk independently. The operation, and subsequent necessary physiotherapy, will cost his family £50,000 – a total they are now desperately trying to reach.
Support and Sponsorship
Jake’s family had already raised £27,000 as part of the Just 4 Jake campaign, and the Adtrak cyclers are hoping to help them reach their target. The total currently stands at over £29,000, and with over £20,000 left to go the Adtrak team are drumming up support for their John O’Groats to Land’s End bike ride next month.
We’re delighted here at ALPHR to help such a worthwhile cause and have already pledged our support and donation to the charity. As an official sponsor of the cycle challenge and with the ALPHR name emblazoned on their team cycling jerseys, we can’t wait to see the results of the bike ride and will be following their progress on the Just 4 Jake website. We would also like to wish Jake and his family the best of luck with their many fundraising efforts and sincerely hope they achieve the money required to help Jake walk.
