Radio Vibration Rack A six test rack with multiple heads where radios are placed immediately after final assembly but before final functional testing. Each fixture is vibrated at random frequencies and amplitudes for a period of programmable time. The intention is to expose any poor electrical connections such as dry joints or incorrectly fitted components so that the radios will fail the final functional testing rather than the end customer experience poor initial failure rates.
Cluster Vibration and Ageing Rack Clusters are subjected to vibration of random amplitude and frequency. Clusters are continously monitored and current measurements taken to ensure no transient failures occur. Uses a bespoke vibration fixture and controller developed by ALPHR. Duration of test period, tests performed and associated limits all user defined in simple menus.
Portable Test BoxPortable unit comprising a laptop PC and bespoke hardware circuits. Designed to allow clusters or climate control units to be tested away from the production line. Testing can either be through a defined test sequence or interactively via a special user interface. This unit is ideally suited for trouble shooting in any environment.
Ageing/Exercising RackA number of clusters or Climate Control modules, normally between 6 and 12, are powered and monitored for a programmable period of time ranging from 2 hours to 2 weeks. In some systems the battery voltage applied to the samples is varied from the nominal to the high and low extremes. In some instances the rack holding the samples is placed inside an environmental chamber and the temperature and humidity are changed in accordance with a specified profile.
TraceabilityAll results are stored in the factory traceability database.
